Top Of The Pops interview 21st March 2005
Sarah did an interview with the German Top Of The Pops as she performed From Zero To Hero in the show last week. In the interview she spoke about her new album and I decided to post it along with the release of Naughty But Nice today. Enjoy (translated by ASC):
TOTP: What's your latest single From Zero To Hero about?
Sarah: My new single From Zero To Hero is on the soundtrack of Robots, a movie where I'm being the voice of the little Cappy. Halle Berry did the part in the original version. It was of course a great honour that the makers of the movie wanted me to do the part and for me it was a great, new experience, but it was also a lot of fun. The song's saying that there's a little hero in everyone. Sometimes you just have to go your own path and risk something to achieve something. When you don't risk anything, you don't win anything either.
TOTP: What can we expect from your new album?
Sarah: My new album's called Naughty But Nice and I'm already very nervous about what the fans will think of it. I really put a lot of work into it and worked on it for almost a year. It's very fresh and very youthful, very offensive, sexy, loads of guitars, live instruments and gospel elements as well as up tempo tracks. Generally, the tracks are very uptempo unlike on my last album "Key To My Soul". It mirrors my current situation in life, it's a bit naughty, but still nice.
TOTP: How did you come up with the title for the album, Naughty But Nice?
Sarah: I hadn't even thought about the title yet myself and then the record company boss called me as I was in the middle of the recording. He said he happened to think of a title that would totally suit me at the moment and it was Naughty But Nice! I asked him if it might have something to do with my new haircut. And he answered that it just fits me perfectly at the moment and that I should think about it. I wrote the idea down and I really liked it and thought that it's really cute and fits me really well.
TOTP: What about your new haircut?
Sarah: The idea about the haircut didn't just come to me one morning, I really had thought about it for a long time. I've always had a pretty long hair and I've always wanted to have a short haircut. And that's about it, I just wanted to try it out and a bit before christmas, I finally got it done and it didn't hurt! And at the end of the day, it's just a haircut and not the end of the world and they will grow back.
TOTP: How did Tyler and Marc react?
Sarah: I had the haircut done at home and they were both there, when they cut my hair. Tyler really wasn't interested in it. I think the first time that he wondered about it a bit was when I came from the shower with wet hair. He looked at me a little suprised, but wasn't really that horrified. Marc sat there all the time with his critical eyes, but he totally loved it and supported me with it.
